I plan to close the workshop down for the summer on 15th May. This having been my first season, my current plan is to reopen for servicing in October ahead of the 26/27 season. Looking ahead, as soon as you book your next ski trip, get in touch with me to book your skis/snowboards in for a service, aiming for around 2-3 weeks before your trip. This strikes a nice balance between the wax being nice and fresh, and you not scrabbling around at the last minute, not needing to pay the express service charge, and not panicking about having your kit ready to go!
Should you get your skis serviced at the end of the season or wait til next season? What about storage wax? etc... My personal view is storage wax is only essential if you know you are going to store your skis/board somewhere damp: the garage, the loft, a pond. Ideally keep your sacred planks in the house, under the bed, on top of the wardrobe, in pride of place in the lounge....! If you do this, you won't need to have an "end of season" service. Just make sure to book in with me ahead of your next ski trip (around 2-3 weeks before, as mentioned above). Wax applied in April 2026 will be quite dry in March 2027, so waiting is the best plan. Obviously, if you have gouged your ski/board down to the core, I would advise an end of season service so that it can be repaired to avoid any moisture getting to the wooden core of the ski/board and risking it expanding or rotting.
I hope that helps. As always, I'm happy to chat about these things so feel free to get in touch if you have any questions!
At JC10 Ski Tuning, I am dedicated to enhancing your snow sports experience. My mission is to provide customer-friendly ski and snowboard tuning services to ensure your gear performs at its best on the slopes. I love skiing, so I will take as good care of your gear as I would my own.
I run a home-based workshop, meaning my turnaround times are usually just a couple of days and generally no more than a week. I can't offer a base grind option, but every pair of skis or snowboard gets a high level of personal care and attention. If you have left servicing to the last minute, my turnaround time and optional collection and return service can take the stress out of getting your kit ready for the slopes.
JC10 Ski Tuning is able to offer ski and snowboard servicing along with a collection and return service to the following areas:
Balham, Tooting, Clapham, Battersea, Wandsworth Common, Wandsworth; SW2, SW4, SW11, SW12, SW17 and SW18.
See the "Services and Pricing" page for more details.
Of course, if you're able to bring your skis to the workshop, distance is no issue. (Exact address available when booking in your gear for servicing).
Accessible from the Northern Line (Tooting Bec), mainline rail (Wandsworth Common) and buses (219 and 319 routes). Located just off Trinity Road: ~7 minute walk North from Tooting Bec Tube Station or ~8 minute walk South from Wandsworth Common Train Station.
